When I was a full-time Research Analyst, I spent a fair amount of time dissecting and understanding the Material Sectors, specifically Petro-Chemical Industry.  As you can see from the images below, these materials are used throughout the economy including Textiles, Safe Food Supply, Transportation, Housing, Recreation, Communications and Health and Hygiene.
